Like many who visit and read this blog, I have tried everything from Atkins to Zone and have turned multitudes of exercise equipment into fancy, space consuming hangers. I have lost a lot of weight in the past, but eventually re-gained it with compound interest. I have seen many people lose a whole crap load of weight – and they looked fantastic – only to put it all back on, and more, a few years later.
I know that weight loss is possible; I’ve done it and seen it done. The question I now have is: “Is permanent weight loss possible?” I’m talking, can someone get down or very close to their goal weight and maintain that healthy weight for better than 10 years – if not the rest of their lives?
I started looking for answers…
The purpose of this website/blog is to chronicle the journey, discoveries, the personal experiences and the trials and tribulations of trying to find out what the hell makes long term weight-loss possible – if it is in fact possible.
One thing I am convinced of is that first and foremost, weight loss has everything to do with our mindset. Ninety percent of losing the weight and keeping it off is determined by how we use our brains. The other 10% is about what we eat and how we move/exercise. I’m hoping the steps I take, the research I do and everything I learn – can benefit others in some way.
I know that my health should be a daily priority. The problem is I’m as easily distracted as a five-year-old holding a balloon in one hand and cotton candy in the other at an amusement park. I figure researching and updating this blog will keep me both motivated and focused on improving my health. And who knows…maybe…finally…I can find the answer to my question…
